The Caddie Experience

Since its founding in 1919, Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club has been dedicated to developing a strong caddie program for the youth of our surrounding communities. Our program not only prepares young caddies for success in their adult lives but also ensures an exceptional level of service for our members and guests.

We take great pride in our caddies and the enduring tradition of this program. GIGCC is also a proud supporter of the Evans Scholars Foundation. To date, more than 50 caddies have earned scholarships through this prestigious program, reflecting the Club’s commitment to excellence, education, and community.

The Evans Scholars Foundation provides full tuition and housing scholarships to high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. Founded in 1930 by the Western Golf Association and celebrated amateur golfer Charles "Chick" Evans Jr., the Foundation oversees the nation’s largest scholarship program for caddies.

Today, 965 students are enrolled across 19 universities, and more than 10,600 men and women have graduated as Evans Scholars, reflecting a legacy of academic excellence, leadership, and opportunity.
